Tomorrow's Lunch - Kaffeine

Alice recommends this pocket-sized Auckland cafe for its organic drinks and tasty cabinet food.

Place: A tucked away hole-in-the-wall cafe at 72 Albert Street, Auckland CBD.

People: Gabor on the food, Kyra on the drinks. The pair bought and fit out the space themselves in June 2014.

Decor: Industrial but homely, with one central shared wooden kitchen table with stools, lit by a big vintage factory lamp. A few Flotsam and Jetsam touches, like a giant retro BNZ sign above the counter.

On the menu: As the cafe is rather petite, there's no kitchen menu to order from, other than a list of bagels with various simple and homely toppings, scribbled on the glass of a distressed door. The cabinet contains food from producers that get along like old chums: Best Ugly Bagels, sandwiches made on site with fresh Loaf bread, and colourful salads produced each day by free-range chicken connoisseurs, Bird on a Wire

In the mug: Kokako Organic Fairtrade coffee, served how you like it, with Green Valley organic milk. Kyra's promise to customers is to tailor drinks individually, promising that no offence will be taken if it's sent back to be made to your precise requirements - a generous and rare policy. There's also a wide selection of Harneys and Sons teas.

Go tomorrow: For a quick bite mid-week - mid-shopping or mid-work - or a coffee and bagel first thing. Best for small groups, individuals and take-away orders.

Open: 7am - 3.30pm, Mon-Fri.
