Meet the little city with a huge heart – Hastings!
dish is giving one lucky winner the chance to spend 48 hours eating, drinking and enjoying all Hastings has to offer this August 5th-7th.
Hastings is, without doubt, a city on the rise. Surrounded by verdant vineyards, close to golden sand beaches and nestled next to fertile farmland and pipfruit orchards, it’s bursting with urban attitude and creative cool. Inside its refurbished Art Deco buildings and retail precincts you’ll find hip eateries, boutique bakeries, sophisticated shopping, bookstores to browse, and even an award-winning gin distillery.
Green spaces abound in Hastings – there are places to stop and admire the wonderful public art, or gaze at the blue sky (and plan your next meal). You can take in a show at arguably the most beautiful provincial opera house in the country, nibble your way around the oldest farmers’ market in New Zealand, or enjoy a round at one of the district’s lush golf courses.
And now, the jewel in Hastings’ crown – The Municipal @ Toitoi Hawke’s Bay Arts & Events Centre – opens to cement Hastings’ place as the stylish small city you never knew about. An eight-year renovation project has seen this historic Category One building – very much a key part of Hawke’s Bay’s collective memory – lovingly restored to its former glory. Our lucky winner – and a friend – will enjoy a long weekend experiencing all the great hospitality the Municipal has to offer. There’s Craft & Social – a bar and eatery serving up modern food and good vibes to locals and visitors alike. Cellar 495 is a premium wine experience, Long Island Delicatessen serves a fabulous lunch, the innovative new Hastings i-SITE and Visitor Centre offers up great travel tips and shopping, and they might even find a little piece of Hastings to take home, from contemporary art dealers ĀKINA Gallery.
Two nights’ luxury accommodation at Porters Hotel, $500 to spend inside the Municipal Building, a private wine tasting with Cellar 495 and local transfers are included in the prize.
Come celebrate the opening of The Municipal @ Toitoi-Hawke’s Bay Arts & Events Centre, and the buzz of of Hastings.
