Five new Auckland eateries to try
With so many new openings on our radar, we decided to round them up in one handy list.
Forget a shared office filled with standing desks and small dogs – Auckland's trendiest workspace comes in the form of this slick new cafe. One of the many new businesses opening their doors on K'Road, the team behind Holm set out to create a peaceful space where freelancers could settle in and stay caffeinated throughout the day. They're about to add a selection of food to the Red Rabbit coffee on offer. Definitely one worth visiting, laptop in tow – head over to 295 K'Road, Auckland City.
Rosebank Coffee & Kitchen
Avondale's newest eatery is open for breakfast and lunch on weekdays as well as dinner on Thursdays and Fridays, serving up intricately plated food amid a polished, industrial interior. Their fare is a little bit inventive, a little bit fancy and more than a little bit delicious. Find them at 1/2 Jomac Place, Avondale or online at facebook.com/rosebankkitchen.
Kindred
The owners of Miss Clawdy have opened a beautiful, light space a few doors down, serving wholesome savoury dishes and more decadent desserts. Pop in early for a tasty breakfast you can feel good about or later for a pre-theatre set menu – you're welcome any time at this family-run restaurant. Their housemade sugar snap pea and mint shrub (a refreshing drink) is definitely worth trying and their generously sized desserts are best shared. Visit Kindred at 7/12 Jellicoe Street, Wynyard Quarter.
Community-minded cafe Crave have found a new home just across the street from their old one. While the menu is limited to just a few reliable options while they set up shop, the (fair-trade) coffee is great and it has to be one of the most welcoming spaces in Auckland. All the profits from Crave go straight back into ending poverty in the community, making each visit twice as nice. Keep an eye on their website, the Crave team are working hard on their first dinner menu – we can't wait. You'll find Crave at 6 Morningside Drive, Morningside.
Fans of Hipgroup's Italian bakery Amano will be excited to hear that their new restaurant is opening this week. It's set to offer freshly made pasta made with flour from their own on-site mill, seafood from an amazing raw bar, a huge charcoal rotisserie, as well as beautiful cocktails. Going on what we've heard so far, it's going to be rather epic. They'll be open from Monday at 66–68 Tyler Street, Britomart.
