Coffee for a Cause
Speciality coffee company L’affare has launched a seasonal brew, L’affare Summer, which will support local communities devastated by the deadly 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck Hanmer at 12.02am on 14 November 2016.
All proceeds from the sale of L'affare Summer coffee, which is available online at laffare.co.nz/shop and in-store at L’affare’s bean stores in Auckland and Wellington, will be donated to the New Zealand Red Cross’ November 2016 Earthquake Appeal.
“Although L’affare’s North Island outposts were, very luckily, largely unaffected by these recent earthquakes, our customers in the top of the South didn’t get off so lightly,” says Selena Hurndell Bulled, marketing manager. “We wanted to show our support for the local communities there in the best way we know how, through coffee.”
L’affare Summer is a light and zesty mix of beans from the Sidamo, Yirgacheffe and Harrar regions of Ethiopia. The coffee has a smooth but sparkling citrus acidity with flavours of juicy orange and blackcurrant and a lingering marmalade finish. It can be purchased as whole beans or ground to suit brewing preference. The RRP is $10 per 200g pack.
The New Zealand Red Cross Disaster Welfare and Support teams are working with communities worst-affected by the earthquakes in Marlborough and North Canterbury. To donate directly to the appeal, click here.
