Spud Season
If you want to get your children or grandchildren involved with growing their own veges but don’t know where to start, then look no further.
Food education charity Garden to Table has just launched a new initiative which will guide even the most non-gardening types to grow, harvest and prepare their very own potatoes. Thought to be an easy crop to grow, the potato takes just two to three months to turn from seed into a tasty tuber, which means now is the perfect time to get planting in order to harvest your crop for summer.
To help you on your way the Great Potato Bag Kit will be available to purchase for $20, which includes a brightly-coloured potato planter bag, 1.5kg pack of seed potatoes from Tui Garden Products and a ‘how to’ growing guide. You’ll also get a recipe from chef Al Brown which is sure to impress guests around the dining table this summer.
So whether you prefer them roasted, boiled, mashed or fried – we bet the humble potato will taste all the better when it’s been dug out of your garden.
Find your starter kit at Garden to Table and Farro Fresh.
