This year Beervana has a theme... Spring! It's a celebration of new craft beers and a reveal of the Speigelau Stout Glass, while continuing to showcase those tried and true brews at the two-day festival. If you're heading there this weekend, here are three things to do and know about to make the most of Beervana 2014.
Download the app: The Beervana app allows you to rate and review beers as you go, creating a real-time People's Choice leaderboard. There's also an Odd leaderboard which will point you in the direction of the festival's most popular experimental and unusual beers. Add beers to a wishlist, and follow the handy map to the best eateries and entertainment at the festival. The Beervana app is available for iOS here and Android here.
Beervana currency: Special wristbands have been introduced this year which will be the only way to pay for beer and food tastings. These are available as you enter, and can be loaded with as many Beervana Dollars as you like. You can top up the wristbands using cash, eftpos or a credit card at any one of the six Beervana Dollars stands around the stadium.
Around the capital: Some of Wellington's best craft beer bars and venues are also hosting events as part of The Road to Beervana. It's already in full swing, so get on board – download the calendar here.
Beervana is on Friday August 23 and Saturday August 24 at Westpac Stadium, Wellington. Visit www.beervana.co.nz.
